Boomerang Latin America has just put up their site for Instant Star, which they have recently obtained (Lat AM Scores Instant Star).

The Instant Star Boomerang site contains 3 wallpapers, 2 of which are not of Alexz, but rather Latin America’s own Jude Harrison? We are unsure of who the girl and the Jamie are, so if you find out, please let us know!

Not sure what’s keeping Echo Bridge updated on Alexz! She isn’t signed to Capitol Records any longer, nor is the show on Teen Nick/The N any longer. Still, congrats Latin America fans!

All four seasons of Instant Star, the Canadian teen drama about a songwriter dealing with overnight success, have been licensed to a pan-regional Latin American broadcaster, Echo Bridge Entertainment has confirmed.

Some 52 half-hours of the show will be dubbed into Spanish and will air on Boomerang, a teen channel owned and operated by Turner Broadcasting System Latin America. The show makes its debut in March this year.

“We anticipate that the universal appeal of the series along, with high quality production values and intelligent character-driven storylines, to be a huge success with our teenage audience,” said Vicki Zambrano, channel director of Boomerang Latin America.

The series stars Gemini-winner Alexz Johnson, who later signed a recording deal with Capitol Records after the success of the series soundtracks in the US and its airing on MTV’s Teen Nick.

Echo Bridge has previously licensed Instant Star to Poland’s Canal+ Cyfrowy, France’s Canal J, Spain’s Antena 3, Israel’s Noga Communications and MTV Networks Spain. CTV in Canada originally commissioned the series from Epitome Pictures.

My Season 3 DVD arrived, here’s a scan of the artwork. There’s only one dual-sided disc with 6 episodes on one side and 7 on the other. There aren’t any bonus features, not behind the scenes, deleted scenes, bloopers, minis, etc. Still, it was only $11.99, and less than $15 now, so make sure you do buy a copy at your local Best Buy!

So September 1st guys!

I got this email (joe@alexzworld.com) from Haley, a faithful Instant Star/Alexz fan. I thought it was amazing.

It’s a very depressing matter. One year and two days ago, Instant Star ended. The finale “London Calling” was the last episode. This is a horrible recognition. Alexz, Tim, Cory, Tyler, Laura, Wes, Miku, and the rest of the amazing cast that has been together since 2004 are now working on other projects. Alexz on a solo album and on a new movie. Cory and Tyler are continuing there music careers and Laura may return to Smallville. Instant Star has touched the lives of many people. The music brought into our lives will not be forgotten. June 26th was a horrible, horrible day for many people. May this show rest in peace, and in the hearts of millions and millions of fans.

Echo Bridge Entertainment has closed a slate of agreements for two teen series from its Alliance Atlantis Distribution catalogue: Degrassi: The Next Generation and Instant Star.

European deals for Degrassi: The Next Generation include Poland’s Canal+ Cyfrowy Sp. Zoo, taking seasons seven and eight; France’s Canal J, which took season seven; and Spain’s Antena 3 went for seasons four and five. At MIPTV, the company will premiere season eight of Degrassi: The Next Generation, currently in production on 22 half-hour episodes. The series airs in the U.S. on The N.

A number of deals have also been closed across Europe and the Middle East for the teen series Instant Star. Canal+ Cyfrowy Sp. Zoo went for season four, Israel’s Noga Communications took seasons one through eight and MTV in Spain scooped up seasons one, two and three. Spain and Andorra’s Antena 3 picked up the first eight seasons of Instant Star, while MTV Networks in Spain and Andorra took season four and France’s Canal J also went for season four. Instant Star also airs on The N.

“These two series continue to perform extremely well, generating impressive ratings worldwide and we are excited to offer an all-new season of Degrassi: The Next Generation at MIPTV this year,” said Dan March, the executive VP of Echo Bridge Entertainment. “Quality teen programming is in demand from broadcasters around the world, and Echo Bridge is thrilled to be in a position to meet those demands with these stellar programs.”

It seems Funimation is releasing a new season 1 and 2 combo pack for Instant Star. At the moment the only new content on the DVD is the “Can’t take the Me out of Me” DVD extras, we don’t know what this is yet! It’ll be out on April 7th, but you can preorder it now!

Of course the sad part of last year was that we were not shooting Instant Star any more. I’ve been looking again at some of the Instant Star episodes, and I am just so proud of them. It was one of those rare combinations of an incredible cast, wonderful writers, and great music.

But one thing we can all look forward to is the release of Alexz Johnson’s first solo album sometime next year, probably in the Spring. Alexz is so eager to get the album out to the fans. And rightly so.. it’s one of those albums you can listen to again and again and again. On first listen it’s breathtakingly beautiful–and then as you listen more it just keeps getting better!!!

As a final note, I get a lot of emails with questions about the release of CD’s and DVD’s.

As for Instant Star, I am hopeful that we will have the Seasons 3 and 4 DVDs, as well as the Greatest Hits soundtrack released sometime in the next few months. But with the series having been cancelled, it hasn’t been the priority for the distributors that some other projects have been–I’ll keep pushing though!

11. All About the Music: Alexz Johnson
Born: November 4, 1986

It was a sad day when it was announced that ”Instant Star” would be ending with its 4th season. Although it jump started her career, lead actress Alexz Johnson knew that it was time to move onto bigger and brighter things, namely her long awaited music career that she had put on hold during ”Instant Star’. “I got to make the record I’ve wanted to make for the last four years and it was so worth it. And good things take time you know?” Alexz told alexz-johnson.net in an exclusive interview a few months ago.

What’s Next: The release of her much anticipated debut album. It will be interesting to hear Alexz ’s style of music rather than Jude Harrison’s. At this point in time Alexz is hoping that it will be released this year, if not early next year and is eager to start touring for it. She has no plans currently to go back to television, but is interested in the idea of her music being used in films.
