Alexzandra (Alexz) Spencer Johnson, was born November 4th, 1986 in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. Alexz was the sixth of what would be ten children. She is not the only person in her family who is in the industry, she has a sister who is a stage actress and her brother, Brendan is a musician/producer, who she works with.

Starting at the age of two, Alexz would sing to her family. Soon later she enrolled in vocal training with Joseph Shore (Read this Article for more information). Soon she started participating in various festivals, with her local youth choir, along with solo performances at local functions.

Locally, Alexz was referred to as their “West Coast Celine”. Soon, she received a call from famed record producer David Foster. She won the National Athem Contest at the age of 11. he recieved many radio/television interviews because of it. That year she was voted “Vest Anthem Singer” by the Vancouver Sun.

Her rise to fame started with a Grizzlies anthem contest sponsored by a local radio station when she was 10. She didn’t win the contest, but as the audience at the Metrotown finalists’ audition was starting to leave, she jumped on stage and belted out a people-pleasing version of My Heart Will Go On. The crowd went wild. Along with singing at chairty events and fairs. She opened the Variety Club show singing a duet with Bob McGrath, sang the first set of songs at then Molson Indy, and she entertained many at New Year’s Eve at Planet Hollywood at the age of 12!

Soon after the producers of Disney were looks for a young lead actress who could sing and act. Alexz stepped up and got the role. She starred as Annie Thelan in the family scifi television series, So Weird.

Since then Alexz has played many parts. Alexz now stars as Jude Harrison on the hit show Instant Star, The-N’s second most popular show (Next to Degrassi: The Next Generation). The show wrapped up it’s final season in 2008.

On August 26, 2008, Alexz was nominated for yet another Gemini award; her third nomination. On October 21, 2008, she won the Gemini Award for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series, for the Instant Star episode “Let It Be”. Sadly, Alexz was unable to attend the ceremony.

Alexz has also starred in the blockbuster hit, Final Destination 3 as Erin Ulmer in 2006. She actually auditioned for Julie Christenson, but Alexz showed up in all black, and a punkish outfit, later claiming she had been in a bad mood. The casting Directors decided Erin would be better for her. In addition she has starred in several other movies, her filmography includes roles on Smallville, Devil’s Diary, the upcoming LMN thriller, Stranger With My Face, and more!

Alexz is now finishing up her debut solo album. In an interview with Amanda Mack, Alexz let fans know the album is done and she’s waiting for a release date. Recently she tweeted that she will release news in near future.
